New MTH 3 Truck Shay Loco Whistle Steam Feature Control with DCS App

Try holding on the whistle cord in the app to turn it purple for playable/quilling whistle.  I believe that turns on the steaming whistle in the app. or that action allows you to turn on the steaming whistle.

I'm not at home to look at the app or I could tell you for sure...

Thanks, I'll try that this evening. May dig out the handheld as well.

On the settings tab for the engine, you have to enable it first along with quilling (AKA Playable Whistle) whistle and THEN you get the option for purple pull whistle cord.

You don't have to have both on (steaming whistle can be used without also quilling)- just trying to explain where the 2 settings are.

Again, notice the settings tab or window, then scroll down for the 2 whistle function options

BTW, I'm waiting on my order from Mr. Muffins. I know they are slammed shipping as many as they can daily.

On these new shays, you need to put smoke fluid down the whistle?  Or, is the whistle fed from the smoke stack fluid?

No MTH engine previously or now, has a "shared" smoke unit fill. That is ONLY on Lionel as only Lionel produced a dual smoke unit with a common cup- thus common fill.

On MTH they are separate units and must be separately filled.

The dome with the whistle is removable. Edit- that said, I know the size of the steaming whistle is the smaller unit- but 4 drops doesn't seem enough IMO. I mean sure, you don't want to overfill, but 4 drops is nothing. I would say at least 8-10 on a known dry smoke unit.

Yes the dome comes off where the whistle is located and you add there!

I use a Z-1000 controller but no steam comes from the whistle.  Do I have to have DCS for the steam whistle to work?  I put in about 15 drops of smoke fluid and blew down the hole to clear any bubbles.  Still nothing,

edit- Steaming whistle function specifically:

Only works with DCS- full DCS- a TIU + DCS remote or WIU +DCS app. Or upcoming WTIU+app

Will not work in conventional, IR DCS commander, or DCS WIFI Explorer
