Is there anyone in the New Orleans LA area who can answer questions or point a novice to someone or to a resource? He wants to get started with 3 rail trains. I'm asking for the son of a recently passed train friend. He's inherited his trains and has questions about getting started.

Thanks, rattler21, I hadn't thought of that. However, I think he needs some immediate simple advice before he starts down that road.
Tell him to join the OGR Forum. There are plenty of people willing to help him.

There is/used to be a train shop in Ponchatoula and there is a Lionel Service Station #224 in Covington right off Causeway Blvd south of I-12. George is an excellent repairman and knows most of the train people in the area. 'Uncle Sam's Trains' (504) 782-7622

Yes, I know George. Very knowledgeable. Used to see him at the Ponchatoula TCA meets and Mobile train shows, when we had such things. He's helping me with an ERR/RS installation problem (a very rare thing) right now.
- c.sam and D500 - I bought a new Lionel F7 Wabash AA Set from the Electric Train Depot in Ponchatoula a few years ago, the owner of which (at that time) was Jim Fowler as I seem to recall or something sounding like that. I'm not positive but I think that store is still in business. Does the name of that store mean anything to either of you?
Their website says they are closed until further notice.
