Wondering if others have an issue with the “newer style” universal remote.  My original is shiny smooth surface with no indent at the top of the wheel for stopped and does fine, the newer style (same part number) is a Matte finish with the indent at the top for stopped.    I have ordered two now and both have issues staying connected for a locomotive 10 feet away.  Always loses connection when the locomotive goes behind a couch at max of 10 feet away.  Tonight was losing connection on gs-4 at 6 feet away and no obstruction  Have tried a few locomotives and same result.  I will say the challenger doesn’t seem to have an issue with it usually.
curious if others have noticed same?

This is a common theme with the Lionel Remotes. Mine can go about 12 to 15 feet before the connection drops. Bluetooth modules shielded inside a metal tender don't have the best range. Some folks claim 30 or more feet and others can only get it to work by letting the remote ride the train behind the tender. Everyone's milage varies widely.
