hello,

just bought a used TIU with remote (50-1001) for my modest layout.  Hoping to keep it simple, at least initially. Lionel 180 input, with one output to track. So far only one ps2 and a couple of ps3 locos.  Lights and accessories will be powered by a separate brick.

Is there a way to clear all the data on the remote, or delete the previous owner’s engines one by one,  or just reset both TIU and remote?

Download the latest software, 6.1, or not necessary with the way I’m using DCS for now?

Can you add a second 180 or brick to the TIU (to get more power), but maintain one output to track?

Thank you!

Hi again,

ok... so I finally sat down to reset and update my dcs tiu and remote, but it was quick.  The remote reset quickly but I keep receiving an ‘out of rf range’ for the tiu.  I have a z1000 plugged into the fixed voltage 1 and the tiu’s red light comes on.  I am not connected to track or anything else.  I tried multiple times.

the tiu is rev I3.

(I hope this wasn’t a mistake but) I also tried to update the software.  Downloaded the software on my comp, watched the video and made the proper connections. The dcs loader could not locate my tiu.  I tried powering the tiu both thru the fixed voltage 1 and the aux power input.

Did I miss something? Any other ideas? Bad tiu? Worth fixing, and through MTH, or is there someone who does this on the side? This is used equipment that supposedly worked fine but hasnt been used in a couple of years. I guess ‘you get what you pay for’...

thank you.
