Wow, thank you for the rapid replys!  Just to clarify, just need to reset the remote, not the TIU, correct?

Not a good idea to connect 2 bricks to one output. You have more than enough power for what you have.

Thanks John.  I agree, was only asking for the future.  

Most limit each channel to no more than 10 amps, which is what you have now. If you need more power on one loop, you would divide it into 2 power districts and power the second with another brick through another channel. Barry's book would be a good investment for geting into DCS.

Reset both the TIU ands the remote.

Will reset the TIU and remote (does the order matter?). Will then upgrade to 6.1.  Will stick to one power source.  Wish me luck.  Thank you everyone.

ok... so I finally sat down to reset and update my dcs tiu and remote, but it was quick.  The remote reset quickly but I keep receiving an ‘out of rf range’ for the tiu.  I have a z1000 plugged into the fixed voltage 1 and the tiu’s red light comes on.  I am not connected to track or anything else.  I tried multiple times.

the tiu is rev I3.

(I hope this wasn’t a mistake but) I also tried to update the software.  Downloaded the software on my comp, watched the video and made the proper connections. The dcs loader could not locate my tiu.  I tried powering the tiu both thru the fixed voltage 1 and the aux power input.

Did I miss something? Any other ideas? Bad tiu? Worth fixing, and through MTH, or is there someone who does this on the side? This is used equipment that supposedly worked fine but hasnt been used in a couple of years. I guess ‘you get what you pay for’...
