Just a last comment from me re Bachmann DCC . As I mentioned in an earlier thread,

I'm planning on adding DCC to my range of Darstaed locos., as an option. Although these locos are heavy, and strong pullers, because they don't have smoke generators and electronics, just a couple of little lights, they draw very little power. Well under 1/2amp in fact, so I fitted an HO Bachmann decoder rated @ 1 amp, for just simple light and motor control. It cost $20 and took me 15 minutes to fit. It works well.

Dave ,
Just FYI , I talked to the 2 rail guys a while back and they have a source for higher amperage decoders if you need them . They told me they usually run 4 and 5 amp decoders because of the added load of the cars.
Don't know where they get em you'll have to ask over on the 2 rail forum.

They seem to be in-line with the rest of the WBB line-up.

However, nothing is mentioned of the new sound system (only TBII).

Betcha if you wait they'll be down in the  130's 140's a month after they're in stock

Yes, I know they are available, and they are some dollars. The point I was making, is that for 20 bucks and not much time, you can add command to a simple loco. That's the beauty of DCC, the variety and price range, the number functions etc, are simply mind boggling. True, a fully blown DCS or Legacy loco has more options and features, but when it is boiled down, DCC will meet most guys expectations. And that is why it is a universally accepted format, and makes the Lionel/MTH products very niche and limited.

Universally accepted everywhere but O scale 3 rail. Here it aint Master Card, Visa or American Express.

Larry demoed a GP30 for me on their Superstreets loop. The good news it was able to negotiate 021 (Thats 21, not a typo) diameter S curves without a hitch. The bad news is the volume is very low. Barely audible at 6 feet. I am not sure how loud it would go but you might want to listen to one before committing to purchase. Also it may be some time, like a year or so, before the boards are available to upgrade older engines.

What do you mean S gauge O21 track? I thought this was an O gauge locomotive.

Are they still planned for a November 2012 release?

Hopefully Bachmann will make this model appropriate to the Reading Lines prototype.

Reading Lines had added some extended cab features to some of their EMD locomotives, read something on the Reading Modeler website about a modified from the factory an SD-45 with the cab extended about 11 inches at the windsheild for dual cab control features.

FYI, Reading Lines did not have any GP-38's, or at least bought no GP-38's from EMD directly. Bachmann made a GP-38 model of a Reading Lines engine and this is not prototipical for the Reading Lines. It looks great and runs good, so after finding out this info maybe I can reletter it for a GP-39-2.

Also Reading Lines traded in some older diesel engines to better finance their new diesel engines, like F-3's and AS-16's.
