Our club, FCTT, sets up a very large layout each summer at the Hemlock Fair in Hemlock NY. We use three older MTH Z4000 transformers to run six independent loops. When we have a derailment, you lose both sides of the transformer which cuts out two loops. One of our members believes the newer Z4000’s do not act this way and only the side where the short occurred will drop out. Does anyone here know if this is true? We are looking at other options which should solve the problem but we are curious about the newer transformers none the less. Thanks.
