i wonder if they crank up the temperature in those cars to 110° during the summer.
now that would be more like "Stepping into Scottsdale".
that's some hi-tech graffiti!
Your here with us now Zach !!!
Staten Island was nice when i was a kid. But I would never move back there!
Ahhh, all that stuff about dry heat? It was like 126 degrees when I decided to leave. New boss fresh out of school was yelling saying that's the third time I saw you at the drinking fountain today!!
?????????????????????????????
eight bucks an hour and all the scorpions you could catch. NA, I love NY!
Been to alot of places Still think Staten Island is the best place on earth!! Only thing I liked about Arizona was the Phoenician Hotel.
The Grand Canyon, Phoenix, Tuscon, Tempe, Flagstaff, Scottsdale, Yuma, all nice places to visit for a vacation in the winter except Yuma.
My one spring trip, early April 2006, to the desert was interesting. Beautiful day when we landed in Las Vegas. First stop was Zion National Park on another beautiful day, we were spending the night at Bryce Canyon, NP . By the time we got to Bryce there was snow everywhere. On to the south rim of the Grand Canyon, our hike to the bottom started with 8" of snow on the trail. River elevation is very close to Phoenix elevation, amazing what 5000 ft difference in elevation can do.
Bryce Canyon April.
South Rim of the Grand Canyon, Desert Tower.
My sweetheart Dianne hiking to the bottom of the Canyon South Kiabab trailhead. April 6, 2006.
The snow quickly turned to red slop once we entered the Hermit Shale layer.
My butt, that stuff is really cold. So much for designer hiking gear. Someone mis-placed her footing. We really know how to have fun.
As we lost elevation on our trip to the bottom, it warmed and dried out a bit. At Cedar Ridge, things got better, warmer, and we saw several California Condors.
Three hrs. later, about to cross the Colorado. All the winter gear is packed away.
Home for the night Bright Angel Campground. What a difference 5000 ft in elevation can make.
You just got to love the desert in the spring . Link to the 2006 GC picture file, Click on Slideshow upper left corner of web page. Somewhere in that file are some very nice photos of Alco FPA's that service the south rim of the Grand Canyon.
Wow. I was on that shuttle train a few days ago. They covered the entire car inside and out. Ah, you can feel the warmth as soon as you step into the cars. In past years they had cars wrapped in Tropicana Orange Juice, The History Channel, etc.
