LCCA National Convention Day 2 – Ryan Kunkle from Lionel joins us to give a production update, plus we talk paint colors, getting the details right and more.

Funny thing I use 3 different brands of Milwaukee Road Paint so I can get the faded look of the paint, also items painted in the Milwaukee Wis. Shops compared to the Tacoma Wash shops where different due to different brands of orange paint used..... great show
Agreed with Mike above, another very interesting podcast. Even more detail added to the Santa Fe Mikado. Paint difficulties and challenges (ALL manufactures have the same problems) and a little bit of the marketing thoughts. Thanks for taking the time Ryan.

What is this big announcement to be made about the 2017 v2

50th anniversary Hot Wheels set with orange fastrack was discussed in the podcast. Also at the Lionel seminar on Friday at the LCCA convention they were going to discuss items in the 2017 C2 catalog.

Not sure if this is it but....
Ryan stated that the Vol 2 catalog will will be filled entirely with new offerings instead of just being a rehash of Vol 1.

And he also stated the LCCA conventioneers would get a preview of the 2012 Volume 2 catalog content, but we've seen nothing posted here (i.e., highlights / details).

They in fact did get almost 45 minuets of 2017 Volume II with the catalog pages shown on two large screens in the convention hall. Lionel also gave away a gold Polar Express Berkshire and Brass Hybrid Santa Fe during the presentation.
The reality is, I don't think anyone is really in a hurry to spill the secrets.
August 17th is the street date and of course we'll be there to cover it.
Can't Wait!!!! Thanks for the news
all new product ? i am really excited for this catalog but just to be clear does Ryan mean its all gonna be stuff lionel never made period and not for example a bnsf ac6000cw or a csx sd45
could it finally be that my prayers have been answered with a lionel MK5000C, ET44AC or SD70ACe T4

Well breezy, Lionel might just as well have presented the 2012 vol 2 catalog at the LCCA convention -- that would explain why nobody is talking about it, 'cause the products are 5 years old!

It's like trying to get reports from York sometimes, even if major announcements are made. Hard to understand - it's as if everyone at these gatherings sleeps through the presentations, or else is just too lazy to post information.
Maybe they enjoy watching the forum implode over the lack of information. Or maybe they are just honoring Lionel's wish to keep the catalog off the forum. Not everyone has the "I have to be first." mentality.

I guess I need to re-read the TOS for OGR. I missed the part that said I am required to post any information or pictures of things I learn at conventions and meets. [/sarcasm]

One of best things about the Forum is that members post many things in order to be helpful, not because they're required to do so. Of course, there are countless things that people do in life which are done because such things are helpful, generous, and courteous. They are not done because of a "requirement."
i don't know if i can wait 15 more days the suspense is killing me like somebody please spill 1 diesel or electric or something that would look good in a fictionalized version of Columbus ohio or Boise Idaho

How about a skyline chilli model? A lighted Short North sign? Maybe for Boise they could release a line of blue AstroTurf?
33:51 "Looking over some Great Northern art for a new project we're working on right now we are actually changing the orange color" Everyone missed this? Empire Builder?
