O gauge FRISCO #1522 .

I have the MTH Frisco 4501 Meteor 4-8-4.  Beautiful engine but not for the purist.  MTH took a S. Fe 3751 and repainted it Frisco colors. I remember seeing the 4501 as a child blasting through Kirkwood Mo.

I'm actually planning to letter a Lionel 1666 for the 4003.   Apart from being a 2-6-2 instead of a 2-8-2, the lines are similar enough to make a good looking model...

I have seen 1522 when it was operating and it is a charismatic engine with a cool whistle and lots of class.  I would buy it in a heartbeat if made by Lionel or MTH.

I grew up in Kirkwood too and spent a lot of time as a kid around 1522. I even got to light the fire once as a little kid when she was at union station. I have always wanted a good O Scale model of 1522! There is new hope with Lionel's brass hybrid idea. 1522 would be a great candidate! 

I really wish someone would do a 1522 engine, but other modelers have told me the midwestern engines really don't sell that well.  I think if it was still running that might give it more of a following.

Not to quibble, but I will: actually it's an MTH 2900-class ATSF 4-8-4, a class later than the 3751. The tender is also from a non-ATSF loco. (They've also used this same arrangement to nicely emulate an ACL 4-8-4.)

In Mobile, taken in approximately 1962 (with an old Kodak; 620 film I think - love those large negatives). They had just placed this loco in Municipal Park (they ran a temporary spur off the GM&O). I took this when I was about 14. It's still there, but rather worn and improperly painted.

The Frisco served Mobile - except for Pensacola FL, Mobile was as far east as the Frisco got - but these locos never came here. The Frisco bought the Alabama, Tennessee and Northern after WWII in order to get to the port, and by the time that the purchase was made, the AT&N had already dieselized (with Alco RS-1's). So, the Frisco came here, but their steam never did, as I understand that they continued to use the AT&N diesels on the route. 

I visited Frisco 4500 this past Memorial Day.

It seems like I remember that the Frisco 1522 was rebuilt and sent out on fantrips but it seems to have dropped from sight,  Whatever happened to it?     ODD-D

I saw it in St.Louis several years ago during an LCCA Convention at the transportation museum.

I think how a lot of people begged MTH to do the Reading and Northern 625 so if we can all beg MTH or Lionel to do it it will happen like 625 is happening now for MTH

Thought I would catchup with the chat. The #1522 is still in St. Louis, at The Museum of Transportation. Here is another Frisco engine I would like to see Built or/ manufacturer.these are the Firefly 4-6-2 Streamlined Pacific's . I really like the unique styling. They look really fast. Any way you all have a great day today. My Son and I are leaving out in the morning to Kayaking in Missouri. Canoed many of time where were going but never Kayak before, Son has never done either, Couple other friends coming along , that we have to meet up with, Fun times cant wait,.  Oh , yeah , seen the #1522 in Springfield , Mo. some time in the late 80's early 90's, but the first time I saw here was at the at the museum. she was still sitting in the front row , when the parking lot was still gravel, I was very young then, 10.  I believe I have still have post cards with it on the card, and 1 with James Darrin's custom built car. I'll have to look in my closet.
