Thank LCCA for a geat event!!

It was my pleasure meeting you, your son and your dad. I hope you all had fun.  If you had fun there, you could even have more fun during our 44th annual convention to be held in Indianapolis IN July 20-26.

We allowed kids of all ages and sizes compete in this contest, see photo below.

The Red Carpet Open House was a lot of fun, but it was also a learning experience about the latest developments in the Lionel product line.

This is the first time I had a chance to run LionelChief Plus production steamers with long consists.  We went "upstairs" in the section of the very large room the houses the Archives to use the new test layout. (You need a specially coded electronic key card to gain access to this area, and there are only a very few Lionel folks who have access for security reasons.)

I ran a LionChief Plus Mikado with 20 very heavy cars attached to it and the loco walked away with them without any strain over a long loop with a grade in the center. Four cars in the consist were die-cast hoppers which added to weight but did not faze the Mike.  I tried the operating rear electro-coupler, worked the sound and and let the smoke rip.  This is an impressive engine and the street price makes it attractive on a couple of levels. The LionChief Plus engines are not scale, but they are "scale detailed" and look quite good. I also tried out a LC+ Hudson pulling 14 auto racks, boy did that make for a looong consist! We will see what George Brown says in his detailed review, but my initial impression of the LionChief Plus steamers is quite favorable. These engines are a good value for the money and you can run them in conventional if you want. You can also run them on the same tracks and at the same time that you are operating your Legacy locomotives, because they have their own controllers and operate on different frequencies.

Saw some other neat stuff in North Carolina, but Rich just came into my office and I have to take a work break!

Here are a couple of photos of the new test track at Lionel's facility and Mike Reagan conducting a demonstration and providing information about Lionel's upcoming LionChief Plus operating system.

Really glad to hear these positive remarks on the Lion Chief Plus line. I'm thinking about ordering a set.

Hoping to see some demos at York next month.
