How many of you realize that the American Locomotive Co. (ALCO) manufactured automobiles and trucks shortly after the company was created.?

 

As far as I know, no one ever made a 1/43 model of one.

Wow - that's cold.  A person had to be warped not to like Dean Martin.  He was one of my favorite stars, and I loved his Matt Helm movies, and his roles in movies like El Dorado.

 

It took more time than I expected to make the sign with his picture on it in the photos below, but it's a scale model of the real sign (now gone).  The first photo shows 77 Sunset Strip as it was on my layout up to a few minutes ago.  Until now only the Jensen (Lynley's car) was on the layout all the time.  I know it does not correspond to the TV show, but in honor of Dino and Matt Helm, I replaced Stu Bailey's T-bird with the Dual Ghia.  Note how grand it looks there!  And besides,  Veranda Turbine really deserves to ride in something classier than a T-Bird!
