We are looking for a scale sized modern loading rack for our modular club layout. Ideally, spots for two scale tank cars on one side, and perhaps a truck loading spot on the other. Searches have found HO size, but not O. Has anyone seen such a beast or would it have to be scratch built?

Thanks

John

David, Thanks, yes I have seen those, but we have a spot that will fit a rack like the ones Joe has posted below

Joe, Either of those racks would be pretty much perfect, but ideally, we would have room for a rack to fit 2 scale cars (like the safety klean) on the spot, and a road on the other side that we could park a tanker there. What are the dimensions of these?

Heres a couple pics of the spot on a stub siding. We'll move the coaling and water towers and put the rack there.

Thanks for posting

John:

My stuff is custom built to fit. Give me the dimensions you need for length, how many pumps you want and location, where you want stairs located and if you want a control booth as in the one picture. If you want that high railing duplicated let me know. Then I can quote. For basic prices go to http://shop.modelstructuresinc...ory.sc?categoryId=25

Please be aware though I am booked till July so won't be able to start your product till then. Alan may be able to do better.

Joe

Thanks Alan. When I started construction on the layout back in 2006, I had purchased refinery units from Stan the Tank Man at York. I thought that a loading platform would work well with the refinery area. I found Joe on the internet at the time. He was super to work with. I am not sure he remembers the project, but it came out very well.

When I was in the business long enough to get friendly with Darlene at Plastruct I called one day asking for the part number for the spiral stairs Alan uses for his storage tanks. Dead silence for about 5 seconds then Darlene says 'oh no there is no part number - Alan builds those from scratch.'

I think some of the refinery kits Plastruct sells are based on either Alan's input or his designs.

Joe:

The picture you posted was from the previous location on our layout. Last year we did a renovation project and moved the refinery to a much larger area. If you notice in the picture I posted, there is a pipeline now that goes to the loading dock. This picture will give yo a better idea. And you are correct, it is 42" long. You did a wonderful job on this project.
