I have several O22 switches that need power plugs.  I've found that 2.5mm ID / 5.5 OD plugs USUALLY fit nicely, but some switches have pins which are just slightly too fat to fit.  It appears that the next larger common size is 3.1mm, which seems like it would be too loose.

Any suggestions for a plug that will work (with source and part number)?

Thanks.

If you are using coaxial plugs, remember there are two connections you can use.

The tip, obviously, for the fixed voltage switch power. The sleeve can be used as an otherwise inconspicuous center rail connection for track power to supplement lockons or other power drop points.

Thanks.  Hadn't thought of that.  On the ones that fit, I've just been using the tip.

The fixed voltage plug is part# 711-151 and is available from The Train Tender.

Thanks for the P/N.  However, I have a few Lionel boot plugs, and they are also too tight.  Does the part you referenced have a larger diameter opening?

This, in conjunction with using the center binding post for a common/ground connection, makes for a complete "lockon" connection wherever you have a 022 type switch. This can simplify & improve electrical transmission throughout the layout.

I have made power plugs from O-27 tubular track Rail.  Cut the Round head of the rail off so I had a tube about 1 inch long.  Then using styrene tube made a jacket.  One 3/16" tube that I slit down the length so it would fit over the piece of rail.  Then a second 1/4" tube over that.  Paint black.   Dug a small screw out of my miscellaneous screw box that I was able to screw into one end.  I have made 2 of these and they work fine.
