Rich,

Ok you finally got me, this Back Shop Digital Book makes it now well worth the Premium membership,  I will now join.

Rich I have a problem, I want to pay for the subscription each time myself, I do not ever give any company permission to auto bill my bank account, I will join if you can give me a way to pay your company each year, not using the auto billing set up.

PCRR/Dave

I did, very much like this issue....Thanks again Rich to you and your staff.....Brandy!

Rich, I was trying to point out the "lash up" references that Joe and Brandy note w/o using the term, itself.

Yes, I not only saw it, I wrote it on that chapter page. The title of Jim's column was "Build Lash-Ups Without Command Control."

I gave up on the "lashup" thing a long time ago. It's a lost cause...

What a nice, pleasant surprise and added bonus to boot. Thanks for putting this out. Jim's Back Shop articles are some of my favorites in every issue. I signed up for digital as soon as it came out to support the forum. I was already (and still am) a print subscriber, which I really prefer to read. The digital is definitely providing a lot of unexpected extra value. Thank You!

I'm sorry Dave, but there is no provision for manual billing. The process is entirely automated. It does not access your bank account, it is simply a charge on a credit card. Virtually all on-line digital publications use this billing method fur subscriptions now. Nothing to be afraid of.

If you subscribe, you will get an email seven days before your subscription expires next year. The email will contain a link you can use to cancel your renewal if you wish. If you want to renew, you don't have to do anything.

Thank you all for the comments.

Lash-ups.... I still love it.  Despite my partner's protestations, and despite a lot of conversation to the contrary, it is STILL the term used by my good friend who has worked for CSX as an engineer for the past 25 years (and he still uses it regularly to this day).  He also says that most if not all the other engineers he works with still commonly refer to one or more engines "MU"d together as "lash-ups".

Hmmm...the article on page 69 referenced above uses 'Lash-Ups' in the title, the add below for the DVD uses 'MU' instead of 'Lash-Up'. Wonder who would have changed that?

Looking forward to the upcoming summer releases. Since I just re-entered the hobby about 4 years ago, I am way behind and have been reading everything I can find to try and catch up. Will be good reading these older articles, starting with the one here.

I am disappointed.

Dave, you can certainly stay away if you want, but your fear is unfounded. Almost every on-line subscriber-based magazine uses this automated billing process. Hundreds of thousands of subscribers to various magazines around the net do this every day and think nothing of it.

And once again I have to tell you that NO ONE HAS ACCESS TO YOUR BANK ACCOUNT! This is nothing more than a credit card charge, which can be disputed should you wish to do so.

The security setup to do this is staggering. The protections which have to be in place to be legally permitted to do this are big-time serious. Our billing provider complies with every one of them every day.

I hope you will reconsider.

Dave, at our house, we enjoy the convenience and security of auto-bill.

The auto-bill is fully under your control and you can shut it off in seconds.

I travel a lot and its great knowing that my monthly payments are automatically paid by my Bank to my select beneficiaries.

You might consider contacting your banker to confirm the safety of the secure auto-bill program that Rich has offered you.

Contact me if I can help.

Bill
