Very nice thanks so much.  I almost always buy from Charles Ro as a matter of habit, so this was a nice introduction to a new retailer for me.  I bought the NS ES44ac at a price much lower than I have ever seen online for a new version of that engine.  I really appreciate it!

I got through on the first try, in fact, I might have been the first caller because I phoned in my order shortly after Pat posted he was there and ready to go. I got my locomotive and couldn't be happier.

This wasn't my first purchase from Pat's Trains as I have bought 3-rail items in the past but this was my first 2-rail buy. He's a great guy, very friendly and as Caboose Stop Hobbies in Cedar Falls, IA is my go-to Atlas dealer Pat will be my MTH dealer of choice from this point forward. It also doesn't hurt that he's just 60 minutes away.

Just got in under the wire. Ordered the Southern Lionchief Plus Nw2. Thanks Pat! This is a fantastic gesture.

This is even worse.  It's 1940's style.  Phone only?!?!?!?  Where can I get the mimeographed price list?  Yup, we're attracting younger folks to the hobby.

i was bidding on a loco this past week on ebay...bidding went over my price point, called pat today and purchased the same model loco $20 lower than my auction high bid was. thats a win- win for everyone except for the guy that bid that ebay loco up..... ,i'm happy to purchase from a forum sponser also.....

To the contrary, I think it's a clever promotion that Pat has been doing for years.

It seems to me that the promotion is just a way to "reward" forum members, not bring in new hobbyists. I'm sure there are other means to accomplish this. Furthermore, this kind of gesture is called goodwill which will ultimately lead to more business coming Pat's way.

Can we use Hawaiian Aleutian Standard Time to order....it's currently 2:10 P.M. there....   Guess I missed this!!!

Nothing like doing business by phone. It gives the store owner, the opportunity to say Thank you, Merry Christmas and don't forget to call tomorrow too because my poor dog needs a biscuit. I always loved talking to my customers.

Thanks to all of you who support our store and hobby. We have had this sale for a few years now and today was over the top. I hope that some of you guys will give our store a try for your regular orders and pre-orders.

Let's recap...

A reputable dealer runs a special deal to reward forum participants and wants to offer the personal touch, and people STILL complain.  Perhaps Pat should sweeten the deal next time by throwing in a free puppy or kitten.

As they say on TV...  c'mon man!

Like another poster said, can't please everyone but what was done by Pat was great.  I did call but the item that I was looking for was not in stock.  Regardless he did a nice gesture in speaking with someone when now days mostly just electronic or automation.  Glad that this was posted and hope that the tradition continues.

I  enjoyed the sale today, continue to wish this FORUM Sponsor in the programs that are presented, and the success of presentation to the customers

Quite frankly I think it's an awesome gesture by Pat and wished more of the dealers did this once in awhile.

I love ordering trains over the phone! We missed this sale again this year but we've always had great service from Pats! Thank you for giving forum members such a great opportunity to save some money in this hobby that's getting so expensive.
