Wasn't  sure where to post this so I will start here.
I have both Ross and Atlas O turnouts but all are controlled by Z-Stuff DZ-1000 motors. I had one Atlas O turnout that kept giving me trouble - the point rails would not completely move to the curved side of the turnout. Last night I finally took a closer look at the turnout. No matter what position I placed the DZ-1000 in I could not fix the problem. From experience I did not try to stretch the leaf spring because fixing one direction usually ends up in screwing up the other direction.

I'm just staring at the turnout when the bell went on - the hole in the Atlas draw bar was way oversized. In the straight position the leaf spring connects to the outside of the hole, pulls the draw bar out and everything is fine. However in the curved position the leaf spring is just sitting in the hole no where near the opposite end of the hole. so it was not pushing the draw bar fully in.

I grabbed a piece of twist wire tie and placed it in the draw bar hole between the leaf spring and the opposite end of the hole. The turnout now completely closes in both directions.

Ron - yea that was my first thought.

As you can see from the photo it would have presented some issues. I would have had to cut wires from the DZ-1000 and route to the other side. The best position would have been where the Z-Stuff detector is since that is the straightest part of the track. This meant cutting and routing more wire. I supposed I could have placed it on the curved portion of the turnout track but I did not like the idea of setting the motor at an angle to the the draw bar - not sure if it would work properly. I have a feeling the Atlas draw bar is eventually going to break (the large hole left very little material on the outside edge of the bar) so may have the move the motor anyway. I will try it first at an angle then if I need to cut back some of the ties to make the machine straighter.
