One motor Atlas GP9 Engine?

Working on a project that may require the removal of the front motor in a Atlas GP9 engine that has TMCC and cruise (non-flywheel tach). Not concerned about the loss of power or traction. But would like to keep all the operating functions. Could it be as simple as disconnecting the motor electrically and mechanically removing it?
