I have been working on a rotary dumper with automatic switches, ramp, and a hump. The last piece of the puzzle I have is the automatic uncoupling. I am using Gargraves uncouplers and would like to use the outside rails to automate the process. By simply removing the push button from the circuit and using the rails I have a large amount of shorting happening. Do I need a relay to control this circuit or simply a rectifier diode? Is there a better way to achieve this effect - regular magnet? Any help is greatly appreciated.
