It's been awhile since I used this method, but my daughter has a school project involving a mountain. I can't remember the mix ratio to use for using black paint and water to bring out the cracks and crevices. Looks great so far and it will find a home on the layout at a later date.

Are you thinking of ink/alcohol? I think that would be a better choice than paint for your purpose. Ratio isn't very critical. I would start with maybe one part india ink to 10 parts alcohol. Experiment and adjust.
No, I live in a very rural area and can't get any tonight. I was referring to a general mix one would use, such as Woodland Scenics. I've used this before and it works great, I just can't remember how little of paint to how much of water. I only need a little.
Interesting though, I'll give that a try soon.
Marty I think it is 4 or 5 parts water to 1 part paint? If I am wrong I am sorry just spray some water where the paint is to heavy dab up the extra moisture with A paper towel and add more water to the paint and water mix and try again. Choo Choo Kenny
