I have seen photos of the painted 'blue' background wall used on layouts.

My question is...same color blue from layout to ceiling or maybe a lighter blue merging into darker blue.

Wall in question is about 50 feet long and will go up to a black ceiling. Layout will be at least 48 inches off floor and

ceiling height is about 9+ feet from floor.

I want to get wall done before benchwork starts.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions/help.

Knowing what the finished table height will be helps a lot. All my walls were primed white first then split the wall just above the land vs sky. The entire sky was painted with the darker blue first down to the land cutoff. Then some white was added to the blue to make it a few shades lighter. That was then rolled from land up about ¾ the way to the ceiling. Then the land and mountain detail was added.

That is how I did mine.

It may be hard to see in the pictures but the sky does transition in blue color. Just don't make a sharp cutoff line between the transition start at the bottom with the full color the as the roller runs out of paint start moving it up the wall. It is fine if some of the darker blue shows through in spots. Real sky is not uniform in color and from a distance the eye will fill in the image.
