I recently acquired a few brass details from PSC. This is my first purchase of any kind of details and I don't know where to begin on how to paint them black like I need them. Help would be appreciated!

Rustoleum satin black is perfect for the black Lionel uses on their steam engines. It has about the same sheen. I got it at Lowe's
Any flat (I presume) spray paint.
Testor's spray cans from a hobby shop; more cost per ounce, but cheaper if that big can never gets used or clogs up 6 months from now, 2/3 full. Finer spray, I believe, and seem to have a longer shelf life - gee, like they're made for typical hobby use patterns...
I use "high-end" (not craft paints) acrylics applied with a brush, too (no brush marks) - Hobby Lobby has them.
Testor's small enamel bottles, applied with a brush - careful - can be thick-ish.
First, you need to wash the parts for any mold release agent. Let dry. Spray with a primer before applying final coat. If yo are soldering the part on, make sure the stub area you are soldering is shiny with no pains and sanded sol solder can stick to it.
I'm a convert to Tamiya spray cans
You need to either use a self etching primer and then paint or scalecoat 1 paint and bake it per instructions. Both are available in cans. Regular primer or paint will rub off easily. The metal needs to be etched for the paint to stick. You could soak it in vinegar or just get the self etching paint.
