What do you guys do about the tiny rivets and thin wires that are attached to the bottom of the passenger car inserts that easily break off?  Or if you want thicker wires.  They are permanently riveted with solder and maybe 28 gauge wire soldered to them.  Do you solder them anyway and melt the plastic a little?

Thanks,

John

Surely someone else has run into this problem besides me given all the threads about painting interiors that have appeared on this forum for may years.

I think once before I asked this question and the only answer I got was another forum member who said he cut off the wires from the rivets and ran new ones point to point.

Isn't there an alternative to that?

Thanks,

John

I have disassembled, stripped, and repainted several old kit cars. They are in progress. Both are going to have new interiors with custom seats and bathrooms etc. I purchased some of Gun Runner Johns' constant lightening kits and will use 24 Ga stranded wire to connect them. The blue module in one of the pictures shows a CLM and how easy they fit in a car.. By rewiring, I will have the ability to run the wiring exactly where I want it and it won't show.I shopped for 6 wheel trucks with 3rd rail pickups. Since these are pullman type cars they should have 3 axle trucks for comfort of the passengers. I hope some of this helps.
