I am considering painting the interior of my Lionel passenger cars. Does anyone have a good color for the interior? I have seen recent pictures of newly renovated cars and the seats are like an olive/green color. Has anyone tried that?

Unclear which cars you're referring to.
Amfleets were originally maroon seats, then blue, and are now grey.
Superliners were also originally maroon and changed to blue.
Heritage cars will depend, but 70's brown or dark reds are a safe bet.
they are the Lionel 21" inch heritage cars.....
Are your cars the Phase I painted cars are the Phase III cars? Colors were all over the place on early Amtrak, but as Boilmaker said they tended to be in the browns and dark reds. I've seen other colors too. There are some good photo references online if you do a search for Amtrak passenger car interiors.
I have some of both, mostly phase III. I understand there was a bunch of red and blues....I am not so concerned prototypical periods etc. I was hoping someone would have a specific color they have used that looks really good. The P3 come with a red and the P1 with a blue. I don't really like the red. Might be looking for a more muted red/maroon. Might go with the newer gray/olive green look. Again, looking for it to be realistic but not necessarily time period prototypical if that makes sense.
Good job @msp

Just in case anyone was curious, this article has a good summary of Amfleet interiors with one picture for Heritage cars. Gotta say, I think the midnight blue looks good, the heritage picture in this article is a little much for me
