Howdy, y'all.

This weekend I just bought my second MTH 30-9005 Passenger Station in orange. (The first was looted along with everything else from my house after part of a tree fell across my roof.) Anyway, I want to follow through with what I didn't do to the first. I would like to paint the green trim on the station's windows in Royal Blue or Indigo (not unlike CSX's dark blue). Which paint would be best for painting this building?

2 choices IMO, since the building is plastic you can use enamel spray paint in whatever color desired, like Krylon or Rust Oleum. But that would entail a lot of disassembly and masking parts.. if you're not comfortable with a spray can or spray gun, then brush applied acrylics might be the answer. But you will need to apply a base coat to make the acrylics adhere. I use an acrylic flat finish spray I purchase from Hobby Lobby, about $8 a can. Obviously mask the windows first unless you don't want anyone to see inside the building.

Here FWIW is a pic of the "finished" MTH station. There is led strip lighting under the front platform roof; the street side behind is done the same way. You can also see that the 2nd floor interior is lit with strip leds too. The gray mortar detailing nicely subdues the orange of the "bricks". The added steps on the front are 3D printed as is the stairway at the left end of the the trackside platform, and most of the freight you see, all waiting to be loaded. Note the large Lionel box at the right end, on its way to some lucky recipient!

That looks so much better, Rod. The station that I am modeling is much browner but I'm not sure that I will take on a total redo, at least not yet with so much else to do but toning it down with Dulcote and mortar as well as washing over those bright green window frames might do the trick.

@John H, Thanks for the link to the thread. I will at some point be working on my station as well, I have the orange with bright green windows. The brick is MUCH too bright and orangey for my taste prototype.

If Orange wasn't my favorite color, I'd probably feel the same way and have bought the red/gray passenger station. I'm rebuilding from scratch, so I'll eventually have to weigh another debate: O vs. O-27 (vs. Lionel or MTH's answer to FastTrack). 🤦🏾‍♂️😩
