I just purchased a Railking 2-8-8-2 USRA locomotive with Locosounds (that is a certainty -- it isn't PS1), made in 2000.   I ran it, but it had no sound.   Looked for a volume switch and found none.   I took the tender shell off and found that someone had clipped

the speaker wires.   Two questions for those who know:

- if I reconnect (solder) these wires, does polarity matter??

- I haven't had steam Locosounds before... is it so god awful that someone did me a favor and clipped the wires???

Thanks

BILL

Polarity does not matter.

I had a Locosound RK 4-8-4 that I sold years ago; wasn't that bad, as I recall. It was what it was. Why disconnected I do not know, unless it was malfunctioning in the sense of

static, odd chuffing or white noise.

....come to think of it, I had to get a new flywheel tape from MTH for my 4-8-4 as the chuffing was random (tape was dirty/damaged).

Love the RK 2-8-8-2 - great project locos, built like tanks, sure-footed, small enough to stand in got other things. It deserves an ERR Cruise Commander and RS.

I have two - modified (one to a NYC 0-8-8-0 switcher and one to a KCS 2-8-8-0.)
