Paul2, Thank you for saying that. What you described is probably part of why I like that area - an un-posed casual look into a neighborhood....like views I had as a kid in the Monongahela River area in Pennsylvania. Maybe. I think.

Jim Sutter, Thank you! Saying it looks real is the ultimate compliment, to me, though I have no idea how my modeling shenanigans may get to that point. I have no idea what I am doing - I just get a bunch of ingredients together, recall some places I have been, and dive in. Honestly. But it is all very gratifying.

OMG - "Is it real or is it Frank???" You're too much, but darn good to hear it!!!!! Thank you . Thank you, Patrick W. !!!

Again, Thank You, all, for the reach-back.

Ask me again next Friday

This week it's the "company park"; memories of humourous fauna, climbing the giant concrete tortoises,  baby brontosaurus, tanks, tracktors, trucks, and in the shadow of the nearby boughs cradleing it, a swan bench; the flying steed of the meek.

...and a shady refuge for a very heat exhausted "wild thing" like me IMG_20180709_210632~3

So many spectacular scenes here. WOW!

Frank- I don't know how you can pick one scene on your spectacular layout. The whole thing is incredible.

Patrick- Yours is equally tough but that bridge and its history have been replicated perfectly in your scene.

Chris A- Another winner. Great job, your back story working with your daughter is extra special as well.

Gandy- Just beautiful.

So many great layouts and scenery work- just amazing.

For me and my humble 4X8 layout it would be my Team track and mountain side. My first two attempts at scenery building since I got back into the hobby a few years ago.

I tend to take most of my photos in this area. I just like the mixture of structures and the ground cover. This area was done more towards the end of the layout build. I had a better idea of what I was doing and a lot more product for scenic effects became available. The lighting is good here and just to the right  of the photo is an aisle. The track curves to the left around the tall gray building and reverses direction. With the tress and the structures though you tend to only focus on this area. Kind of makes me wish I built the entire layout more like a shelf type or with more view blocks so that you are focusing only on the scene in front of you.

Joe/NJCJOE and Trumptrain, I think we can all see why those are favorite areas on your layouts. They have a very cheerful and vibrant way of saying that something very interesting is present, for everybody to see and enjoy.

I enjoyed your sharing those favorites of both of you, in this thread. Thanks for sharing. In many  ways, that has become what this hobby is about - sharing its happiness with others.

DaveP, That's a nice little narrative you have there.

I'll bet you have, at least, several more you could share with us. The title of this thread to be corrected to the plural, to

"...Favorites " to accommodate sharing even more favorite spots on layouts....

So, I am hoping that you and Gandydancer1950, BLUELINEC4, DK122TRAINS, scalerail, CHRIS A, RSJB18, Dennis Holler, Tom Densel, stevin, Bobby Ogage; Dave C, J Daddy, and Pat Kn will share what I am sure are even more favorite places on their layots that they favor, right guys?

Here's my favorite of this day.  These views are looking west on my layout.  I call the elevated section above the tunnel with backdrop " Westend".  The area just below is "Brewtown" because of the brewery complex and wholesale outlet.   I enjoy sitting on a stool ( placed at the east end of the layout )  and gazing at this end of the layout quite often.... while the trains are running.... and letting my imagination go.   No matter how simple or complex, our layouts are works of art.  Our imagination creates and completes what is not yet there on the canvas. ... the same as it did when we were young lads and lassies with Lionel and American Flyer trains running around the Christmas tree as our parents looked on and smiled.  IMG_6026IMG_6028IMG_6041IMG_6018IMG_6047IMG_6020IMG_6021IMG_6038IMG_6103IMG_6097IMG_6101IMG_6117IMG_6111IMG_6124
