Hello everyone
In the honor of the new forum, and the need for me to figure out how to post photos properly, I give you some shots from our Independent HiRailers layout at the World's Greatest Hobby show in Chicago last month. Not the best photos, not the best light, but they're new and it's what I've got to share!
Ed's Union Pacific 2-8-2 switches out the coal dealer at Halstead Street
A CN powered auto train slowly drifts through Wellmanville waiting for the green to proceed East
A few minutes and miles later, the same SD70M powered freight slams the grade crossing at Halstead
This GTW local consists of all 2 rail cars with Kadee couplers. The lead unit, GTW 5709 is a scale-wheeled MTH unit with fixed pilots and Kadee couplers. Later in the day, there were as many as five 2 rail cars in this train. They tracked flawlessly through all the yards & switches.
This low angle shot of the MTH GP38-2 on my modules makes that 3 inch strip of water look like the large mill pond it's supposed to represent.
GTW power, with really bad lighting, at Halstead.
GTW/CN power takes over after everyone else goes home for the night!
Man, I REALLY have to get around to weathering my equipment. These locomotives look awesome and SO real!
Meanwhile, back at Halstead st. This UP GP9 is switching out the warehouse complex.
A crossing view from the alley behind the warehouse
CN GP38-2LW#5697 and SD45-2LW # 5431 pull a load of canadian grain and potash westbound on the IHMD.
Trackside at Wellmanville, the same CN grain train slows under a yellow approach signal awaiting clearance to proceed.
