Hi,

I am hoping that someone can tell me if this makes sense and will work, I think it will.   I have a ZW that I use to power my track and I am using all four outputs for trains.  I have a LW that I use to power my accessories.  I have two 022 switches that I need to run a dedicated power source to, in order for them to flip completely.  I was thinking of running the power feeds for the switches from the LW used for accessories.  The issue is that the common for the track goes to the ZW, so I end up with an open circuit.  If I connect a common pole on my LW to one on my ZW, will that take care of closing the circuit and things work correctly?

      Thanks,

You're technically not putting the transformers in series. You're putting them in parallel, by tying their common busses together, so that you have in essence created an additional output from your system.  It's sort of like getting 5 outputs from your ZW. Just be sure that the two transformers are in phase, and you will be OK.

Look in the archives for both the theory and practice of transformer phasing. There have been many threads about that subject.
