For end to end joints, Elmer’s glue-all (aka white glue). Do it on wax paper or a sheet of glass so it’ll release when it dries.  You can use a wet brush to clear out any squeeze through to the front side right after you press the parts together. 

Leave it for about 12 hrs. When dry, flip it over and epoxy a yard stick to the back side to stiffen it. You can also back the joints with some epoxy. 

 

If if you want to do it fast, just 5 minute epoxy the whole thing together. 

 

Plaster castings can be assembled easily.  Joints feathered with drywall joint compound, Plaster patch, or Plaster of Paris.  Parts are set in place with construction adhesive. (PL 400 or 500).  

Woodland Scenics Rock molds.  Hydrocal primary mold material.   There are several good reference books on how to do acrylic, or latex washes to get a decent modeling look.   Three rock molds were used.
