Plasticville Log Cabin

I have six of them and am planning a tourist camp.  Each is being weathered and getting window glazing added, doors are all painted different colors and I have some spare roof sections which will become covered patios.  Parking and roadways will be added as I go along.  Some assorted lighting will help a lot, too.

I also found a smaller scale cabin made of softer material that will become an office and mail room and am looking for a larger structure for a store and general event room.

I may make a half dozen teepees like the old wigwam motels and maybe a trailer / motor home area as well.  I might even add a riding stable for horseback trips through the woods and mountains.

The Plasticvile stuff isn't highly detailed but it make great basic structures for bashing.  You might look into the Plasticville Collectors Association for more info an a whole raft of stuff you can make use of.

and finish it any way you want so that it isn't so "bland."

I used a very light brown paint in between the logs to represent the mud packed in between the logs on real log cabins.  Also painted the rifle over the door. A;lso painted the roof to make it look more realistic.

This is all great advice. The trick to making plastic structures look good is to do just enough painting to make it not look like it is all one piece. Keep it subtle. Joe's advice is perfect.

Put some scouts around it and have a campfire. 

There has been a lot of creative bashing of Plasticville on the forum . But I remember no bashes of this cabin. I can visualize some that create mining cabins, log stores and other commercial structures.  And forts, such as Fort Harrod and Boonesborough. Seems like a resource that can be further utilized.

I'd have to go back and look at mine again but looking at the pictures above you could also paint the ends of the logs lighter to look like real ax cut logs.

I dry brushed mine with brown acrylic paint to get rid of as much red as I could. There was a lot of red in the plastic. I then dull coated it and added the Wicked Witch.  The landscaping was done after the photo was taken.

I dull coated after the dry brushing.

I used dull coat on logs, painted ends, doors, windows, and mud between logs. Roof painted darker brown (does not "show" such in pictures).

I am about done detailing around the cabin. It now has Scenic Express, fall trees, cattails, frogs, and squirrel's. The wife [pretty blonde] and I [beer in hand] have walked over to the pond to listen to the frogs. The wood pile is made from chips for cooking on the gas grill.   Azgary

Does anyone have a cabin on there Christmas/winter layout??

Mine is almost finished. Does anyone know where I can get a scale-sized set of snowshoes to hang on the outside of the cabin?

Photograph a set of snowshoes (or cut from a catalog). Or make them from window screen and wire...glue or soder ....then paint.

I have the original log cabin and fencing, and later added an out-house and well--were the latter two "original"?

PS:  Need a chimney for the log cabin--any sources?

The one with the rifle over the door is the much more rare one.

The one with the rifle over the door  AND  bearskin on the door,

Oops! I never heard about the bear skin before.

Here's mine, it's dull coated and the roof and trim are painted but it still to shiny. I really liked the mud between the logs that Turtle 2 did. I may have to touch mine up after 99 other projects are done.
