I recently picked these up just cause I thought they were interesting lol I posted a fe pics in the recent finds thread, but didn't ant to clog it up with more pics of junk. The person who did this failed to take them all the way apart. You can see shadow all over around the handrails, steps, vestibule ends etc. It isn't great by any stretch but I'll probably just clean em up polish em a bit, maybe spray a coat of clear on the interior where pretty much no plating managed to get to and call it good. You can see how scruffy they were in the auction pictures and the one on my kitchen counter before I did any cleaning. Lucky I have a stasch of prewar trucks and stuff since these were butched up. Also lucky the feller chose not to clip off the coupler aprons

@Dennis Holler Dennis these are certainly unique and a conversation piece. I too would polish them the best I could and display. I know from past posts you have a soft spot for these cars. Enjoy them!
They are cleaning up pretty well at least on the outside of the shell and roofs. The doors didn;t get much plating cause the guy didn't take them apart and clean them to well. I am thinking about painting the window and door inserts Gold like the Mayflower set.

Did a bit of disassembly and polishing work on them. Still not superstars but for what I paid and some elbow grease they should turn out ok they will never be amayflower set lol. And I suspect I may have to handle them with gloves on as oils from my hands show immediately lol. Tempting to put some clear on them.

Hi Dennis, good work as usually. For me, even if not perfect plating, but old ones cannot compare with actual technique, it is a very nice set and I would be very happy with. It is a conversation piece and I am sure you will find a good looking loco to match with your set, a Lionel Comodore Vanderbuit would be great...
Very best, Daniel
