I am really questioning why I even bother to do this any more.

I created my own sound file in ADPCM. (I know it's not covered by MTH but please read on). I used the PS3 Santa Fe Blue Goose hudson file as a base then added my own custom whistle, SXS, SRS, SFS, S01 whistle commands, as well as my own custom chuffing noise, and then I also swapped the idle sounds, bell, dynamo, and station announcements from existing MTH PS3 engines.

I tested this new sound file in a Railking PS3 diesel first. I didn't want to risk a faulty sound file into an expensive scale steamer.

I put this in bold because this is important. I know it was a steam file, but everything worked as it should on that engine. The chuffing was correct, all the whistle commands worked, the only thing out of the ordinary was the lights acting wonky but I figured this would happen as it was a steam file in a diesel engine. It should be noted I did NOT change the chain files in the Railking diesel before loading the new file in. I had no problems in the diesel. Exactly everything worked as it should.

Okay, cool. It works, let's put in the steam engine. Upon going to load it, I first came across a note on the DCS loader telling me that it was slowing down the process to sector 8 of 32 something was loading correctly. Iit was here that I first sensed trouble, but it did complete the loading. I once again did NOT change the chain file.

The engine started up per normal once the loading was complete with the lights and smoke working correctly, but right off the bat I had problems.

1. The new whistle is not working correctly, only the looped portion is playing.

2. None of my other custom  whistle commands are working, including SXS, SRS, SFS, and S01.

3. The new custom chuff noise is not playing, instead it is silence but the smoke unit is still puffing in sync as it normally would.

4. All of the existing MTH sound clips are working, even the ones I transplanted from other sound files.

I then went to put the original sound file for the engine back into it and it again loaded, but I got the same message telling me it was slowing down the loading to ensure sectors 8, 35, and 47 of 59 would install correctly. Upon reloading I am now having the same issues that I had with the custom file.

I don't understand why it would perfectly in one engine (especially a diesel no less) and then have disaster with this one. Is it something with the chain files??

PLEASE HELP!

Did you try deleting the locomotive from the remote via a factory reset and reloading it?

I've never had a problem loading sound files modified with that program. It sounds like you're having an issue with some connection between the computer and TIU or TIU and track causing an issue. Are you loading files on a small section of track separate from your layout or on your layout?
