My display is in its infancy! Still trying stuff and figuring out a track plan. Last night I decided to add a switch and a dead end spur to isolate and park one of my trains. Got that all done and it worked out well. Parked my ole Wabash Cannonball set in the spur. Shut it off. Great. Then my Lion Chief PE engine went crazy???? Would stop. start back up if I hit the whistle button or moved the throttle knob. Changed batteries in the controller, no change. Took the body off to see if something was burnt or broken wires. Nothing. Put it on the track without the body and it ran fine for 20 minutes. Put the body back on and poof right back to what it was doing. Somewhere in the midst before I took it apart the sound quit working. It will even keep running for a while with the remote turned off. I piddled with it a while until midnight, Had to get some sleep because I work on Saturdays. So I thought of what happened.
Changes I made. May not be a factor. Removed spur no change. Happens after running 30 minutes or so.
1. Added spur.
2. Added smoke fluid and turned the smoke and chuff on
3. Night before last I installed a Amazon Fire Stick in my TV, wifi stuff, 2.4 ghz radio. Hadn't ran the train since?
Will call Lionel Monday if not resolved. Could be any of the 3 things or just a coincidence that it happened after those changes.
