I will start with a homemade Rocket and flat car similar to the The Lionel 6407 with the white oversized rocket.  My homemade rocket has a homemade Mercury capsule on the tip here.

Below as picture of the rocket without the Mercury capsule.  The Mercury capsules are on the Homemade Lionel 6413 Mercury Capsule transporting car

Another homemade one.  The body is a turkey baster, the nose tip is a storm door closer pin, the exhaust is a toilet part and the fins are tinplate.  It rests on an Aurora Model Motoring pier mounted on a Flyer flatcar with Marx 3/16 trucks.

That is very convincing, from a great assortment of parts, and I congratulate you - although @T.Albers takes the smoke effects prize.

Art Lites     Great job on the Minuteman II

@TrainsRMe  Super job on those homemade rockets and cars and use of turkey baster, the nose tip is a storm door closer pin, the exhaust is a toilet part and the fins are tinplate  I also love to my train gear out other non train items

An other rocket on a flat car.

This rocket/missile thread will not be complete without a little US Marines postwar action. This baby saw some serious use in my youth and she still runs like a charm, although the engine rockets now get a little stuck (have to fix that one of these days) , and the best part - neither my brothers nor I lost an eye with it in combat! -
