Hello all,

I am starting my way out now and will be using conventional postwar Lionel  O Gauge tubular track. I will be using 072 Lionel switches and would like to know what other brands of 072 switches would be compatible with Lionel tubular post war track.

Thank you for your help as always, Jerry

Seems like you can mate just about anyone's switch with Lionel tubular track, provided you compensate for difference in height and have the right pins. Are you running any prewar? If so, you'll probably want to stay away from Ross--even their "Rossplate" line. Through the generosity of others on this forum, I learned that these switches aren't truly tinplate-compatible, despite the fact that they are advertised as switches for "all O-Gauge trains." Steve at RCS confirmed with me that his switches aren't going to work well with prewar trains, and I appreciate his honesty. Good luck.

I have used Gargraves switches with most of my trains. Just need adapter pins to go from Gargraves to the other style of tubular track.

The only problem I have experienced is with MTH engines and Gargraves switches, they derail(steam engines) or shut down(diesels with PS-2 in command mode).

Lionel and Williams engines do fine with Gargraves track and switches.
