To all the pw zw guys. I currently restoring one now. The inside was trash , needed all new wire. I'm having trouble finding a replacement for the resistor that runs from the common bus bar to the red (short) lamp. I hate to buy another transformer and use it for parts. Does anyone know where I can get a good original replacement or a more modern updated one. Lionel has it listed in the service manual as being rated 60 OHM. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm just amazed at the breadth of knowledgeable talent out there. Simply amazing no matter what the question pertains to somebody or 2 or 3 somebodies have a fix. IBM WATSON take notice, you have some serious competition
PLCPROF,
I'll give that a try. Going by the attachment, the way I read it is I wouldn't need it at all if I have the 18 volt bulb. Just want to clarify that.
@PLCProf posted:Unless you are a purist, I would replace the resistor with a piece of wire and use the #1445 18 volt lamp instead of the #51 6 volt lamp. Lionel did that in the later ZWs, see attached.
The purpose of the 60 Ohm resistor in the original design was to drop the voltage across the bulb to ~6 volts (when the breaker trips). If an 18V bulb is used instead, there is no need to drop the voltage to it, and doing so would prevent the 18V bulb from illuminating sufficiently when the breaker opens.
