If you find a regulated 12V wall wart, you should be good for that power. What kind of connector does it need?
Probably the easiest to find and cheapest to buy, right off the shelf, is a doorbell transformer from the hardware store. Check the voltage stamped on it. Some are 12, some are 18. Certainly big enough to supply half an amp.
Even cheaper and for a huge selection, check the bins at your local Goodwill/Amvets/Salvation Army/VOA type thrift stores. All kinds of adapters, analog, switching, large, small, with any kind of plug you can imagine(cut off to suit your need), all for about a dollar each.
Is this an AC output? If so, Art is certainly correct, cheap and easy. You could also use an old PW set transformer, there are lots of really small ones with variable voltage that would do it. I have a Lionel 1014 40W transformer that I'll let go REALLY cheap.
