Need advice on powering 2 pieces of 3528 warm white led strips ,each strip is 20'' long with 1, 9 volt battery & there will be a on-off switch used also ,i know it will light more than what i am doing because i tried it on a partial strip of blue lights that i had left over from another project & it worked just fine ,i only need to cast light on a small area ,is there anything i need to be aware of ,am i missing anything ?

It should work fine. If you are going to be powering the lights often and have a little space for your battery - getting a holder for 6 AA batteries would be a lot cheaper than using a 9v.
Andy B ,Yes i do have room for the AA battery holder ,but for now i will stick with 1- 9 volt battery ,i have a question i should have asked before ,how many single color 3528 led lights can you power with 1- 9 volt battery ? Andy B ,or gunrunner john .
You'll only get 7-8 hours of operation with a 9V alkaline battery from 20" of light strips. I just tested a 3528 white strip 20" long and at 9.5 volts it drew 65ma, at 9V it was down to 55ma. The 9V alkaline is good for 500 milli-amp hours, and realistic you'll get more like 400 before they're pretty dim.
It'll work, but it's not going to be cheap feeding it batteries all the time.
John , Now i see that the battery idea is not going to be such a good idea ,i checked on e- bay & a 30 watt driver was only $ 14.00 ,i have one on my layout now ,& i haven't had any problems with it powering about 8' of an led strip so i think i will just order one for this project . Thanks for the responses .
