When using a z1000's 14 v terminals to power up the TIU Aux power input, should the barrel plug be wired hot center or hot outside?

If its AC, it won't matter.
Chuck,
If you are also using the non-accessory output of the brick for other purposes, including powering a TIU channel or powering switch tracks that use non-derailing mechanisms, you need to ensure that the Hot of the accessory output goes to the Hot of the Aux. Power port.
Thank you Barry.
We are using the non-accessory output (stock molded on plug) to power up a TIU channel. We just don't know which part of the Aux. power port is considered Hot.. the center pin or the oustide contact plate.
It should be the center pin. Interesting to note that neither pin has any connection to any of the input or output power connections, so I'm wondering if there is any implied polarity. Perhaps, though I haven't checked, the actual logic is opto-isolated from the rest of the power circuitry.
Hi gunrunnerjohn.
Most transformers I've seen usually have a designation on the unit indicating weither the center is positive or negitive. That is usually a DC transformer. I assume AC may not matter. I honestly don't know. I couldn't find any information in the "search" department.
Thank you.

I still recommend powering the TIU with the RS 18/24V AC 1000A AC Power Adaptor for best results.

The reason for my origional post is that no matter how we wired the barrel plug for the Aux power input on the TIU, we consistantly blew 20 amp fuses. After learning that the TIU Aux power input is center positive or (power), we switched to a different z1000 and all went well. Apparently there is a wireing problem with the first z1000 we were using. It appears that the wires at the Aux terminal of the first z1000 need to be swapped. I think.
I use either a 16VAC 40VA transformer, or the Z500 brick for my TIU's. They're totally isolated transformers so the polarity of the connection really doesn't matter. Neither have ever been a problem.
