In recent videos I’ve noticed how PM 1225 has a screw reverser, and NKP 765 has one on a leaver or the style that seems to be the unofficial US ‘standard’. With a little bit of reading, the way I understand it is that 765 at one time may have been an odd ball on the NKP, as the class was ordered with the screw style and later on 765 was refitted with the leaver so make for easier switching. Would this mean that say the(NKP) 757 or 759 have retained the screw style? I’ve also read about modifications to the screw style, as in air operated valves to turn them faster than the hand wheel would. Does anyone here have experience with this they could share? Pros & Cons?

I've heard tales that 765 was used as a local switch engine so it was retrofitted with the Alco reverse setup since the wheel type took like 16 turns from full forward to full reverse.

Rich has experience with both setups since C&O 2716 has the air assisted Precision Screw reverse. I belive he mentioned that the screw style was easier to set where the engine was perfectly setup, whereas the lever style would have been between notches to be perfect.
