Problem with PW Lionel ZW.

So my father bought a Lionel ZW at a local auction for 5 bucks untested. I pulled the top off it, everything looks good, rollers good.

Hooked a multimeter up to it and rolled the handle. 0 to 22 volts. Same for all 4 varying 1 or 2 volts between them.

Hooked up to a piece of track with a lighted caboose on it. Immediately the red light comes on and no power to the track, this is for all 4 throttles. Nothing wrong with the track caboose or wiring hook up as I can use my other ZW and it works fine.

Any thoughts on what could be wrong with it?

Are the lens's on the ZW one the correct sides? If you remove the caboose from the track does the red light come on? Can you confirm power to the piece of track with your multimeter without anything on the track?

Circuit breaker is stuck open/tripped. Replace it, and you are back in business.

Dan, Rob, thanks. Yes lenses are on the correct sides and tested that. Power to the track without the caboose on the track. As soon as the caboose hits the track the red light comes on.

Rob I will order a new one and install. Thank both of you.
