When will Proto 3 upgrade for Steam be available? thanks Art

I'd check with MTH Parts directly for that answer, nobody here would have that info.
I was told March, but there could be an issue with PS-32 board components. G
Thanks I am looking for the kit to upgrade Proto 1
The only board in stock is the One Gauge board with the tethered bridge.
I see the diesel upgrade kit is in stock, but not the steam.

If you upgrade a PS2 loco what enhancements do you get from a proto 3 upgrade kit?

Not enough to justify the expense! You can use PS/3 sound files, but that's of limited utility. You can get the quilling whistle, however most stuff is the same as PS/2 for steam. The PS3/2 Stacker board is really a replacement for the PS/2 boards, they just used it for the steam upgrades since the PS/2 boards are no longer in production.
Diesel upgrades are another matter, you get full PS/3 diesel functionality.
Thank John. I assume it doesn't get rid of the unsightly PS2 tether either.

You assume correctly.

Nope, it's part of the upgrade kit. In truth, the PS/3 steam upgrade uses the exact same wiring harness as the PS/2 steam upgrade kit used. They basically just slipped the PS3/2 stacker board in the kit in place of the PS/2 3V board that used to be in the kit.
