Does anybody know where the Q12 light FET single leg goes. I pulled off the foil. Can it be jumped?
Thank you,
Dave

Note that it also goes through that feed-thru right near the pin, you'll have to get that one as well.
Thanks Casey! It's harder to see on the one I have. It is still hard to find where it goes.

John,
Can I solder right to that?
Thanks,
Dave
Yes. Scrape off the coating. G
Sure Dave, it's just a copper trace. You may have to slightly "clean" it so that the solder will stick, it may have the solder mask on it. The one I looked at appears to have solder mask over the feed-thru holes. I just gently scrape it with the an X-acto knife, with gently the operative word! You just want to remove the thin plastic coating that's over the feed-thru.
Thanks guys! I really appreciate the help.

Sad news...the headlight didn't come back.
Thanks to all for the help!

Bummer. I have a board here that has a bad headlight, and replacing the FET didn't work, so I'm assuming it's the processor that has the problem.

Did you probe the gate of Q12 FET (pin 1) when headlight is supposedly on? It's 5V PWM so you'll read, say, 1/2 V DC with a meter (i.e. 10% duty cycle) when ON and 0V when OFF. You could be "lucky" and have a broken connection after the FET.
I traced it back to the processor, nothing happening there on the 'scope. I'm not lucky.
Dave and John, Test the single pin of the fet to the Reverse light pin on the 12 pin. You should have continuity. If not, run a jumper wire. Would not be the first time a trace blew on a PS-2 board. G
