I thought I would toss this out to the forum , perhaps a fresh perspective will help .

I am upgrading a MTH Premier F3 ABA set for a customer.

here is my problem,

each engine has a single headlight together with cab light (2 bulbs) , number boards  (2 bulbs) Marker lights

What it did for the dummy was send the rear light wire which uses two bulbs one for headlight and one for cab

the number boards use the interior cab light circuit which has two bulbs to it, I also added two LED's with a resistor that is also powered from this line

the Dummy unit works great.

in the powered unit,

I used the front headlight with two bulbs, one for the light one for the cab

the markers are powered from the marker light circuit.

the number boards are my problem, I don't see a way to power two more bulbs, the mars light works, but it flashes.

I have considered replacing all the GOW's with LED's, I think then I can get all the lights I need.

has anyone come across this before,

is the LED the best solution?

thanks

Bill

John,

I tried the ditch lights they would not light?

I downloaded the premier F3 file, and it seems to be the same for every roadname.

Tomorrow I will try the ditch lights again..maybe I missed something silly.

I like the LED idea also, but rusty ... and hesitant.....

thankfully this is not time pressing

Personally, I like the LED approach, that's where I usually go.

That doesn't work unless you are ok with the number boards flashing when the whistle blows.  You must use a sound file that has number boards programmed in the file.  G

I had MTH reprogram some F-3 sounds files to add the number board light function.

If the engine did not have a MARS to begin with not sure why the upgrade file added it.

Which engine? You can call and ask Jeff to get the engineers to add the features you need. Apparently it is just some checking of boxes in the program.  I will look up which sound files had the changes to add the features, but I think it was a PS-1 NYC F-3 ABA.  Many of the newer versions would also have NB available.  G

Thanks GGG and Gun!,

I found one file that has the numberboards enabled but has passenger sounds, the customer wants freight.  I found a whole bunch that say that there are numberboards and freight yard, but when I load the file the numbersboards wont light.  I will wait to hear from MTH.  Thanks for the ideas....

Wait to you get to some of the steam and diesels that have markers as default off.  You do a conventional rest to clear the engine and they go off.  If you are a conventional operator or have the small Remote CDR you have no way of turning them back on with out DCS or the DCS Commander.  I have no idea what they were thinking, or else the Sound Engineer failed to check the right boxes when making the file.  G
