I will see if I can explain this correctly as this is my first layout.   I have attached a picture to show layout and there are two circles which are 072 switches in which I isolated the center rail. The track is all Atlas powered by a Z4000 via TIU and using WIU via App

One Fixed from Z4000 via TIU to central bus terminal in center of layout connecting to the outer and middle loops.  Hub and spoke out to various points.

Second fixed from Z4000 via other fixed TIU to a separate bus terminal with feeds inner loop and yard.

Now when I have the MTH PS3 engine on the inner loop powered from the second fixed Z4000/TIU the engine starts up automatically and then horn stays on.  This does both happen on the outer/middle loop.

When I place a legacy engine on the inner loop with only power from the second fixed it behaves or starts as expected.

Also if I power both sides of the transformer the MTH PS3 engine on the inner loop behaves normally with startup only executed via app.

Do I need to isolate the outer rails also?  Trying to figure out why the the PS3 engine starts up automatically when power is only from other fixed z4000 and TIU.

Hope the above explains what I am experiencing

It's when the individual channel receives power on the input or output.  The aux power to the TIU can be on all the time, you'll still get a WD whenever a channel is powered, only on that channel.

The reason I mention the output is sometimes people run in passive mode, which doesn't power the input.  In that case, the output getting power also triggers the WD generation for the channel.
