The locomotives are set at 1 mph and they take off at full speed. All my other MTH locomotives fun great.

the only way that would happen is your tach board AND READER ARE NOT WORKING in your engine! what engine item number do you have?
Alan
you could take engine apart and make sure your tach tape is still on the flywheel. also make sure the stripes are not faded out. send me an email with you cell phone number and ill call you.!

Thanks. I had the locomotives apart before and didn’t see anything that seemed out of the ordinary. I will check again. I have read that the spacing between the sensor and the flywheel could be the problem. The number is 20-20258-1 Thanks I will let you know what I find. I also have a Rail King locomotives that is acting the same. My other DCS locomotives run fine.
Odd that this would happen to multiple locomotives at the same time.
Are they missing the watchdog signal or does this happen when you move the thumbwheel from zero?
You didn't say how many locos are showing this problem. Before tearing engines apart, I'd take all but one off the track, and try a conventional reset of that engine with no DCS signal on the track. What you describe is not uncommon, and a conventional reset is the cure. It is not reasonable to think that tach spacing and tape quality would change on all engines at once.
I have two engines that do this. I have tried doing resets with my Z400 hooked up to a separate test track with no you hooked up. All my othe MTH Ps2 or PS3 operate normal.
No TIU connection to the test track.
