Just had an interesting occurrence wrt a PS3 Sw1500. While in operation (switching with a lot of back-and-forth movements) both headlights went dark and that as that. This was while using a DCS Remote Commander (the one with the IR Remote a la TV) for control. Other functions remained normal. Shutting down and restarting power made no difference. I then performed a "factory reset" (using the Remote Commander-press SND, then DIR, then (-)) and wa-la! Headlights back in action. Are PS3 engines in the habit of dropping stuff like this?

Never used one of those. Is there a way you inadvertently turned the lights off?
Probably accidentally turned the lights off.
That's just the thing. The Remote Commander has no controls for lights.
Control functions are limited to what you see here. The only control functions supported are remote couplers, bell, whistle, sound volume, startup&shutdown, PFA sounds, idle sound effects and of course direction and speed.

Electrical bug. As long as the reset took care of it the issue the locomotive should be fine. I'd only worry about it if the headlights shut off again.
ps 3 engines can have there own moments, usually the reset to factory default setting corrects them!
