Ask La Belle if he can find the artwork for mine - I think I had some done for Pullman in gold with black outline.  I know I had them done for Pennsylvania, Long Island, Norfolk and Western, The Overland Limited, Oregon and California, Southern Pacific, San Diego and Arizona Eastern, and Sud Pacifico de Mexico.  I think he is willing to run previously done artwork, and any of mine can be sold to anybody.

Also be aware that he has SP Steam, done by me for Stevenson Preservation Models. I set it up for Mikados and 0-6-0s, and I think you can do eight steamers with them, including cab and tender data and those neat shields for the switcher cab.

Several years ago someone had decals made for C&O heavyweights in HO and O. These are still available from the C&O Historical Society and may be what you are looking for:

There is also a set for Pullman car names, but these are strictly names used on C&O Pullmans. If you need other names maybe you can cut these up and reassemble them into other names.

Thanks for the input, everyone. Glad to see there are options. The dry transfers seem like an interesting way to go, I've never used them so I have to try them out.

Jefferson, Microscale's Extended Roman seems to better match the Pullman font. Maybe an alphabet would be best? Can you confirm?

The C&O look great! Thanks for sharing

Besides the heavyweights, I'm lettering a CB&Q Ex-troop baggage express car, so an alphabet would be best for that.

Maybe extended Roman is the best for pullman lettering. As they always say, work from photos. It is tedious putting on one letter at a time but is very doable. Dry transfers are great if you have the right set. Trying to use individual letters with dry transfers would be very difficult. At least with decals you can slide them around until everything is positioned.

"micros scale doesn't seem to sell them which quite frankly I find ridiculous. "

I talked to the owner of Microscale years ago when they started dropping O scale decals. His reason was simple: "They don't sell."

So if it is ridiculous that a company should make a product and not lose money at it, then maybe you'd be willing to work without receiving a paycheck?

There are some other companies making O scale decals (or in the case of Allegheny, selling), though I didn't notice what you are looking for. Might be good to bookmark these links:

Above is their homepage, but next is the specific O scale listing

Nobody would suggest they make a product without profit, but their selection of what to produce was questionable at times. Multiple different EMD Demonstrator versions but no ATSF heavyweight passenger cars?

Actually, it's pretty easy.  Just cut the alphabet sheet into strips with scissors and then using each strip that has those letters you need simply align as you go picking out whatever letters you need as you go working left to right or the reverse direction.  Make an error; just lift it right back off with a hobby knife, and do over.

Much of that Microscale not selling issue was self inflicted. First, no PULLMAN decals.. Really?? Freight engine decals without caboose decals. Passenger engine decals without matching passenger car decals. No decal sheet for the various Pennsy sleepers painted in other roads schemes. Etc,... Make less in quantity and charge a little more for them?

So if it is ridiculous that a company should make a product and not lose money at it, then maybe you'd be willing to work without receiving a paycheck?

Do that now, paying for Government retirees golden pensions and their health plans!

When you see things like this you can presume that someone bankrolled those EMD Demo sets or the owner needed a set for a personal favorite locomotive so he had his artist do them.

Stop right there big boy

I'm a "gumint" retiree and I take exception to that.

Golden pension?!?!?!  I worked hard for 30+ years for the pension I get, plus they took MORE out of my paycheck every 2 weeks than what is taken out for Social Security, just so I could get a bit more pension each month and to cover some of the other minor benefits I got during those years.  Not to mention all the BS me and my fellow gumint workers had to put up with.  Reports when I worked put government employees at 20+% BEHIND the pay of civilians who did the same work.

Folks who don't know the facts really **** me off.

I was born after 1970 so could someone explain what a pension is?

I'm sure the taxpayers of bankrupt Illinois, because of state, city and school district pensions, might have a different opinion. High school teachers retiring on $100,000 untaxed pensions etc...

Yes, I think it's ridiculous. heavyweights are some of the most likely to be "decaled" cars out there. Hundreds of names and dozens of railroads, endless combinations. And, from brass to plastic there are several manufacturers producing these cars.

I'll likely go with microscale extended in delux gold, here is one of my zephyr cars with re-done placards and custom lettering.

Alright here are the Pullman car dry transfers from clover house... They look great! I still need to practice before I'm comfortable w them, but im sure one can make a car look just as good as pad printing. I got one of their practice kits and messed around for a bit.

Some pics below:

There's a weird white shadow on these item number indicators, however the A came out great. Weird. This surface is airbrushed enamel paint.

here is what I have done for many years.   Get a sheet of clear decal paper and put the transfers on that and apply like a decal to the model and then clear coat.

Best idea yet!

I've never had good results with dry transfers going on uneven surfaces, this may fix that.  I have plenty of clear decal sheets just need to get some Cloverhouse transfers.
