I have several Railking steamers that I have removed the ps2 electronics from, and used them in other engines. I would like to make these run again if I could. I was wondering, what kind of rectifier would I need to do that? I only need forward only operation, to keep things simple. I know very little about rectifiers, so I need advice..........any replies are appreciated.

BTW, you may recall that your PS2 boards had a similar style/package of bridge rectifier...and that was mounted to a heatsink - piece of folded sheet aluminum as I recall.  I can't imagine you pulling 8A with a RK O-gauge steamer but even if averaging just a few Amps it is prudent to mount the bridge to a piece of scrap aluminum...that mounting hole is there for a reason!    Here's what may even be that same type rectifier in the eBay listing mounted to sheet aluminum for heatsinking; # 4-40 machine screws fit perfectly...
