Yes you can oil the motor if you are careful about it. A very small drop on the ends of the armature shaft. Slightly adjusting the motor blower will also help on the noise somewhat. Just be careful, the cheap Japanese motor in there is fragile! Even when the blower assembly is adjusted as good as it can get, it still is a noisy car, but fun to watch in action.
The 3470 target car is definately noisy, but found kids love playing with the baloon as it floats magically around the layout. I added TMCC to mine so I can use it in command control environment running at 18v so I can adjust the motor with the Cab1/Cab2. Otherwise this car is unusable in command mode.

I purchase the small water baloons available at most general stores for additional baloons.

I have 2 other 3470 target cars upgraded to TMCC I'll list on the buy/sell forum when I get around to selling the next batch. (Email if interested)

Well, the motor is from my junkbox, so I don't really know the source. It just happened to have a shaft the right size, and was close enough in size that I could retrofit it to the fan ductwork.

It's still kinda' noisy, I'm converting mine to TMCC with a beacon, lights, and a beeper all controlled from the remote.

An interesting factoid. The inside of the tin on the fan assembly was printed with what appears to be a can of something, I couldn't read the Chinese or Japanese writing, it was actually salvaged from old tin! Big Grin
